Claypoole Hex Signs
Traditional hand-painted hex signs and barn stars from a Lenhartsville studio
About Claypoole Hex Signs
Eric Claypoole paints traditional Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs and barn stars at his studio in Lenhartsville. He took over the family hex sign business from his father, Johnny Claypoole, around 2004, and the family has shown at the Kutztown Folk Festival since 1962. He is known for scalloped-border designs, has painted or restored more than 100 barns, and lectures on barn star history several times a year.
